According to an email sent out from Microsoft via Microsoft Connect labelled “Live Mesh Tech Preview: Version Update July 30, 2008″, Live Mesh’s version number has been updated.
Guess what it does: Well, everyone can access it now if they live in the USA, UK, Australia or New Zealand! (I’m glad they included Australia and New Zealand in there).
Also, you don’t need to wait for your application to be approved. Instant sign-up!
The bad news is there isn’t a Microsoft Connect group for those members.
I still think Live Mesh does nothing that we weren’t able to do one year ago though. FolderShare is free. It’s also run by Microsoft. It does exactly the same thing.
Live Mesh’s homepage promised a cloud environment between your PC, Mac as well as Mobile. Did they deliver that? No! It is currently a complete waste of… everything. If all it can do now is connect Windows Vista desktops, why not just use Foldershare? Or should I say “Windows Live FolderShare”?
Two identical products that do the same thing is bad, Microsoft. Quickly release the PDA, Mac versions and I’ll be happy. This version update does practically nothing.
Check out FolderShare at www.foldershare.com.
