Wait for your Life, with Playstation

Sony disappoints Playstation 3 owners. Again. First, Playstation Home was delayed. Then, the in-game XMB and trophies had a problem (2.40) and therefore we had to wait for them to issue a patch. Then, Wipeout HD is indefinitely delayed. Now, you wait for your “Life with Playstation” for another month. Or maybe more, depending on whether they want to delay it any further.

The Playstation blog states

We’d like to provide a quick update on Life with PlayStation for PLAYSTATION 3. We know many of you are eager to try out the new service for yourself, but you’ll have to hold tight. Due to a few procedural matters, the new service will make its way to PlayStation fans in August.

In other words, “Life with Playstation won’t be coming for another month. Just waste your life waiting for our Playstation 3 addons”.

Is there a point to buying a Playstation 3 anymore? Why not just buy an Xbox 360? Cheaper, has most of the “PS3-exclusives”, has it’s own exclusives, features actually coming out, can be used as a Media Extender.

If you aren’t going to be able to delivery something on a certain day you promised, tell them earlier. Don’t tell them on the last day. Or promise a later release date. Or don’t give a release date at all. What’s with this whole delaying business? This just makes consumers lose trust in the company. What happens to the PS4 when it comes out, if it comes out? “It will be available in 2010… I mean 2011… I mean 2050.”

This is not a complaint. This is just clearly pointing out the fact “Sony will lose customers if it keeps delaying release dates.” How long has been Playstation Home been delayed for? Wasn’t Wipeout supposed to be a launch game?

I guess 2.42 was just 2.42: Nothing but “game fixes”.

Playstation 3 2.42 – Life with Playstation?

The 2.42 firmware for the Playstation 3 was just made available to Playstation 3 owners today.  According to the Playstation blog, this update ” improves the playback quality of some PLAYSTATION 3 and PlayStation format software.” Is that all?

Normally updates aren’t that… short. Where’s the full update notes?

Are you sure there isn’t something bundled with it? For example… Life with Playstation?

You know, the “Wii News and Weather” clone that they announced will be on Playstation 3s by the end of this month, July? Or will that be a separate download?

Only time will tell. Afterall, we don’t know yet, do we?

Dear Sony.

Some love for Australia please?

As some people know, Australia has a quota system for the internet. Within the month, a person on an internet plan may only download a specific amount of data before they are either charged extra, or capped to a slower speed for the rest of the month.

There is also a peak/offpeak system, where your quota is split into peak times and offpeak times. Your offpeak quota is usually bigger.

Well, I sent an email to Sony regarding if there was a way to schedule a download so you don’t waste all your peak quota and become capped. Here’s the question and the reply.

PS3 rrrrrumble

Is it just my special PS3 or did PS3 just have a breakthrough in installing new firmware updates? Finally the Accept/Do Not Accept agreements appear before downloading the update, you get to install the update without pressing the playstation button on a controller and you can also set the PS3 to turn off after installing the update!

Now all that’s left is a better download manager for the PS3 so I dont’ have to waste all my peak quota downloading movies and demos…

FFXIII on X360.

OMG. That’s probably the reaction that most people owning either a Xbox 360 or a Playstation 3 would be feeling right now.

For the Xbox 360 owners, it is “OMG. It’s finally coming to my console. I don’t have to miss out. Suck that PS3! Go Microsoft!”

For the Playstation 3 owners, it would be “OMG. Stupid Square Enix betrayed us again. Stupid Sony. Now why did I buy this expensive piece of junk when I could’ve bought a X360?”

Sony. Better. Come. Up. With. Something. Great. At. Their. Press. Conference. ………….. Or. Else!!!!!

(or else what? I have no idea… less PS3 sales and a potential end to Sony’s rule over consoles?)
